THE City Council in Iloilo is deliberating a proposed ordinance imposing P1 increase on the admission fees in all cinemas in the city from October 1 to 31.
Councilor Armand Parcon, who authored the proposal, said the proceeds will be donated to the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FSCAP) Iloilo City chapter.
The cinema fee increase is aimed to support the association’s programs and activities in the different city districts.
Parcon said the City Government, every Wednesdays, provides the senior citizens with free movie pass cards.
The elders are also given booklets for discounts in grocery shopping and medicine purchasing, among others.
Iloilo City has a total of 16 movie theaters in shopping malls; six at the SM City cinemas, five at the Robinsons Place Iloilo, four at the Gaisano City, and one at the Regent, downtown area. (Lydia C. Pendon)
