ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the “Queen City of the South” title between Iloilo and Cebu should not be an issue, but must instead push the Visayas as the new Queen Area in the Philippines.
During the opening of the 22nd Visayas Area Business Conference on Thursday, Mabilog said that businessmen will see the revving up of engines growth in the Visayas.
He said the area is the newest “economic tiger” in the country with its tourism and business potentials.
“Iloilo City is fast developing up as a new business mecca and tourist destination with clearly defined structures and open door policy for business opportunities,” he added.
The three-day business conference, which started on September 4, will be graced with over 300 delegates who will learn and exchange knowledge on business in the Visayas.
The mayor, during the event, also explained the Public Private Partnership best practices toward a positive business environment. He said Iloilo City is “lucky enough” to have private partners in its projects.
