New city legal officer-A A +A
Monday, September 9, 2013
A NEW city legal officer is set to be appointed by September 15, said Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
Mabilog said he will select his co-terminus city legal officer between two lawyer candidates who have submitted their documents.
However, he refused to name the “well-known legal personalities” who will undergo a test on how to handle certain situations like city charges against Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD).
He said the new legal officer must be “well-versed” on the local government code and law practice. He must also put the City Government above his personal interest.
The new legal officer will take over the position left by Jose Junio Jacela, whose confirmation for another three years was not approved by majority of the members of the City Council.
