Province incurs more savings-A A +A

THE Provincial Government of Iloilo is maximizing the use of its coffers by incurring more savings from transparent and competitive bidding, said Governor Arthur Defensor Sr.
Defensor cited for example the recent P700,000 savings that Bids and Awards Committee realized from procurement of P9.3-million road grader.
The project, which has a budget of P10 million, was among the three heavy equipment the province bought using its P35 million savings two years ago.
The other two brand new heavy equipment were the dual-purpose backhoe delivered earlier this year and a bulldozer to be delivered next week.
“Practicing competitive public bidding is giving us more savings and these savings allow us to fuel other projects,” Defensor said.
In the case of the P700,000 savings, the governor said he is planning to use the money in buying additional service vehicle for the Provincial Agriculture’s Office (PAO).
PAO said there is a need for additional service vehicles to visit and deliver their services to remote areas in the province.
The P35-million savings of the province two years ago came from the procurement of 14 brand new heavy equipment composed of dump trucks (10 units), motor grader (two units), prime mover, and fuel tanker. (PR)
