City ups traffic light in 7 streets-A A +A

THE City Government of Iloilo has started the installation of traffic lights in busy seven street intersections, while three closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras are already operation under Phase I in three street junctions.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the CCTV cameras are now operating in the areas of Plazoleta Gay, one at UPV Gen Luna St. and at corner Quezon Ledesma St. with connectivity through the internet protocol (IP) radio system by Smart Telecom.
A CCTV control room was established at the seventh floor of the new city hall to record and store the video recordings with connectivity through the internet protocol (IP) radio system by Smart Telecom and taken at the initial areas with CCTV installations.
Mabilog said that traffic lights will be installed in seven areas initially out of the 16 busy street intersections in the city earmarked for traffic lights.
Phase I include the installation in four areas such as at corner Timawa Infante in the city proper, Jalandoni and ELopez St. in Jaro district, Rizal Huervana in La Paz and Jalandoni Delgado in the city proper.
The amount for installation came from the P10-million budget in 2012 intended for the fountain project at Plaza Libertad.
Phase 2 of the traffic lights project includes the rehabilitation of three existing traffic lights near the Molo Supermart in Molo Plaza, junction at Mabini Ledesma at Valeria Delgado in the city proper.
The amount for traffic lights rehabilitation was donated by commercial establishments in the areas concerned.
