Traffic office lifts number coding policy for taxis-A A +A
Thursday, September 26, 2013
THE Transport Management and Traffic Regulation Office (TMTRO) in Iloilo City has lifted its policy on number coding for taxis passing the Washington Bridge in Jaro district starting Thursday, September 26.
TMTRO chief Engineer Jose Tengco said private cars may pass the bridge from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., while public utility jeepneys, taxis, trisikads and tricycles may pass anytime.
Alternate routes were implemented as the bridge is undergoing a P50 million retrofitting construction to strengthen its base.
Vehicles may pass the circumferential, radial and coastal roads to ease traffic congestion along the bridge.
Tengco said the Department of Public Works and Highways has assured that the project will be completed within the first week of October.
This will allow all vehicles to pass the bridge as a major artery in going to northern and central Iloilo and back to the city.
