SK pushes for holdover until 2016-A A +A

THE Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in Iloilo City is pushing for the holdover of its officials until there the election in 2016 so that they can still do their projects, which already have a budget until their term ends.
Iloilo City SK Federation president Sheen Marie Mabilog said the national SK officers are meeting with the senators and congressmen in Manila to allow them to a holdover capacity until the next SK elections.
The law on SK delayed election is waiting for the signature of President Benigno Aquino III.
The legislative proposal showed that the SK will not participate in the October 2013 election and there is no more holdover of SK officials until the next election.
Mabilog said the SK annual budget is 10 percent of the barangay budget and the remaining amount will remain stagnant in the barangay, as only the SK officials are allowed to spend the amount under the Constitution.
The SK city official said they are praying for a reformatting of the SK organization to make it more effective. (Lydia C. Pendon)
