Lawmaker to file resolutions probing SSS, JRMP-A A +A
Tuesday, October 8, 2013
BAYAN Muna party-list Representative Neri Javier Colmenares will file resolutions calling for an investigation of the Social Security System (SSS) and the Jalaur River Development Project (JRMP).
Colmenares wants to investigate the pension fund and the disbursement of the P10-million performance bonus of eight members of the SSS board, while for the JRMP, the loan of the Korean government which every Filipino has to pay and the safety and the need of the project in the province of Iloilo.
While in Iloilo City on October 8, he said the performance bonus of few persons is an act of no conscience by the SSS as ordinary members agonized long months before receiving their pension fund.
The party-list congressman also said he has heard reports that the dam project is some two to three kilometers away from the fault line which is unsafe if a major earthquake occurs.
Colmenares said he just wanted to listen the explanation of persons involve in the project.
JRMP is a project of Senate President Franklin M. Drilon costing some P11.2 billion with completion of construction by 2016. The project, the biggest dam outside of Luzon, is designed to irrigate 35,000 hectares of farmlands, bulk water supply of 25,000 cubic meters per day, and generate eight megawatts of electric power for Iloilo.
