Mayor calls for unity among elected officials-A A +A
Tuesday, October 29, 2013
ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog asked elected village officials to unite as the preparation for the Asia Pacific Economic Council (Apec) continues.
The city is set to host two Apec committee conferences on agriculture and transportation in November 2015.
Mabilog said the village officials are given a “sacred mandate” by their respective constituents to serve the public with no personal interest.
A total of 3,934 candidates filed their certificates of candidacy, 353 of which vied for the village chief position while 3,481 filed for village councilors.
The Commission on Elections said the number dropped from the 5,200 recorded candidates last 2010 election. However, it said the decrease was due to the cancellation of the youth council election.
