Wednesday, October 30, 2013
ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the City Government is looking for at least a hectare lot within the city as site for a new public cemetery as total rehabilitation is set for the public cemetery along Tanza and Delgado streets here.
The City Government is maintaining three public cemeteries that include the cemeteries in Tanza, La Paz district and portion of Jaro cemetery.
Meanwhile, the columbarium project at the Tanza cemetery was put on hold and, Mabilog said, there is a need for a dialogue with the families of the dead to get their consensus on the project.
Mabilog added the public cemeteries are open to the public and policemen and other law enforcers will be deployed at the cemeteries for the two-day All Saints Day and All Souls Day celebration.
Mabilog said he reminds everyone on the prohibition of sound system, radio sets, hard drinks and beer, bladed weapons and firearms inside the cemetery from November 1 to 2, 2013.
