THE Department of Health (DOH) in Iloilo City is advising everyone to be moderate in eating, especially fatty foods, drinking of beer and hard liquor and using firecrackers during the holiday season.

DOH Regional Director Marlyn Convocar said that persons with heart disease and high blood pressure should avoid fatty foods and hard drinks in Christmas parties.

Hospitals in the region have ensured that all drugs are available during Christmas and New Year, Convocar said.

She added that firecrackers are the major causes of injuries.

About 90 hospitals in the Western Visayas will be busy treating eye wounds, burns, and other injuries caused by stray bullets and other multiple injuries.
