All set for Dinagyang Festival 2014-A A +A

EVERYTHING is in place for the staging of Dinagyang Festival in Iloilo City from January 25 to 26, 2014.
City tourism officer Ben Jemina said the festival will feature the Kasadyahan mardi gras without competition with prizes among the participating groups from Western Visayas.
Kasadyahan will tap the love for cultural ties and heritage of the Ilonggos and will become an effective venue for cultural groups from other areas of the region to come and show-off what they have in terms of songs and dances for world awareness.
Jemina said Dinagyang has effectively brought back the tourism interest on culture and show off to the world that’s it more fun in the Dinagyang.
A hall of fame champion of the annual Aliwan Festival in Manila, Dinagyang is widely acclaimed in other countries as the best tourist event in the Philippines.
A Dinagyang “pamukaw” parade is set on December 13 to signal the start of the Dinagyang season.
The opening salvo is set on January 17, 2014 featuring the Kasadyahan and Dinagyang ati-atihan participants.
Different sports events will be conducted and the search for Miss Dinagyang 2014 will feature 10 lovely vying for the Miss Dinagyang crown.
Other activities include food aid for children, medical mission, religious mass, city heritage tour, arts festival, tribute concert, pyrolympics, Sineng Pambansa film festival, food festival, street party, on the spot painting contest, fluvial procession, Kapuso Night sponsors mardi gras parade, and fireworks display.
