TWO Iloilo commissioners in Daly City, California USA donated on Tuesday P510,000 to buy 25 fishing boats with motor and fishing nets for fishermen victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda in northern Iloilo.
City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, who received the amount, said the donation will be turned over to Iloilo Provincial Administrator Raul Banias or to Provincial Legal Officer lawyer Dennis Ventilacion.
Dorie Paniza of the Daly City Library Board of Trustees and personnel commissioner Perla Ibarrientos of Daly City will be going to Estancia on Wednesday or Thursday to see the typhoon devastation.
The donors said they will be campaigning for more donations from the various Filipino communities in California when they returned early next year.
Both assured that their association will join the Provincial Government program of “Adopt a Fisherman” and help the typhoon victims in northern Iloilo, especially those in island communities.
The amount of P510,000 is a combined donation from members of the Filipino Bayanihan Resource Center in Daly City and from the Allied Ways Recology Corporation as their initial assistance to the affected fishermen in Iloilo.
