THE Urban Environmental Accord (UEA) based in Guangju, South Korea is planning to hold the next International Environmental Summit in Iloilo City by 2015.
After seeing Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog on Tuesday, In-Sik Jung and Seung Ho Seo of UEA Secretariat said they are positive that the city is capable of hosting the summit after its successful hosting of the First International River Summit in June 2012.
The three-day river summit in Iloilo City was participated by more than 1,000 individuals coming from different parts of the world, from Metro Manila and local river development advocates.
The UEA Secretariat has appointed Iloilo city environment and natural resources officer Engr. Noel Hechanova to head the local secretariat of the international environment summit that will deal particularly on climate change.
More than 300 participants from Europe, Africa, United States, and Asia will come to Iloilo City to attend the environmental summit to be held before the Asia Pacific Economic Council (Apec) conferences in October 2013.
