IN HIS message to the people of Iloilo City for the Christmas season, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog urged unity and understanding of family values and the Ilonggo sense of pride of his city.

Mabilog said the season brings a message of hope and understanding, especially that “we survive the challenges of Super Typhoon Yolanda and climate change, and together as a united people, we overcome whatever problems and challenges we face.”

Although Yolanda spared Iloilo with only minimal damages, 63 houses were destroyed and 139 houses were damaged in the city.

Mabilog said the city is now number 2 in the total ranking of competitiveness in all cities in the country. Iloilo City, he said, is winning every national competition on governance, health, education and social programs.

The mayor also said that the Christmas season will once again remind the Ilonggos of their faith and resiliency in times of natural and man-made adversities. (LCP)
