City annual gift giving to benefit 28,000 families

THE annual gift giving tradition of the Iloilo City Government to some 28,000 families, including senior citizens and persons with disability, will start tomorrow.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog will lead the two-day gift giving at the Freedom Grandstand 7:30 a.m. of December 27-28.

A total of 5,500 senior citizens and persons with disabilities will receive their gift packs consisting of rice, canned goods and noodles on Friday, while some families will receive theirs on Saturday.

Earlier, the City Government released P5,000 each to 63 families whose houses were destroyed by Typhoon Yolanda, while P2,500 each to 139 families with damaged houses. (Lydia C. Pendon)
