Iloilo hospitals get P4.9-M meds from PHAP

MEDICINE donations worth P4.9 million from the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP) have been distributed to all the 12 hospitals in Iloilo Province on Wednesday.
 
Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias led the distribution on behalf of Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. during a ceremony held at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol lobby.

Each of the chief of hospitals received 20 vials of Rocephin (500mg), a drug used to treat bacterial infections, including life-threatening meningitis, and 38 tubes of Altargo (5g), drugs used for bacterial infections affecting small areas of skin.   
 
Each of them also got 101 bottles (60ml) of Ventolin for asthmatic patients or to those suffering from other respiratory problems and 41 bottles of Metformin (500mg) for patients with type 2 diabetes.
 
Medicines

*82 boxes of Amlodipine (10mg), a calcium channel bocker used to treat high blood pressure and angina
*13 boxes of Ibuprofen (200mg), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug commonly used to treat cold, headaches, toothaches or muscle pains
*8 boxes of Clarithromycin (125mg), drugs used to treat bacterial infections in many parts of the body
*8 boxes of Co-trimoxazole (800mg), also an anti-bacterial drug,
*77 boxes of Amlodipine Besilate (5mg), a drug also used in treating high blood pressure
*14 boxes of Pantoprazole (40mg), a drug used to treat erosive esophagitis and other conditions involving excess stomach acid
*Six boxes of Candesartan Cilexetil (8mg) for hypertensive patients
  
Dr. Prem Parcon of the Iloilo Provincial Hospital (IPH) in Pototan town said they were thankful to the donor since the donations were crucial to the needs and recovery of their patients, especially those who were indigent.
 
The medicines would be prescribed to the patients for free and in addition to the supplies provided by the provincial government, through the Hospital Management Office and Provincial Health Office.
 
The Kaisa Para sa Kaunlaran Movement for Restoration of Peace and Order founded and chaired by businesswoman Teresita Ang Sy also donated 250 mattresses to five district hospitals and IPH.  
 
Of the donations, which were turned over on the same day, 50 were for IPH, Sara District Hospital, Dumangas District Hospital and Jesus M. Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan.
 
Barotac Viejo District Hospital and Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Passi City received 25 mattresses each. (PIO)
