DSWD to assess 1.3M poor households in Western Visayas-A A +A
Wednesday, March 26, 2014
THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will assess a total of 1,323,778 poor households in Western Visayas through its Listahanan project in 2014.
DSWD conducted the first cycle of household assessment in 2009 and Executive Order 867 calls for updating of the database every four years.
The database of the identified poor households will be used in prioritizing beneficiaries for several anti-poverty and pro-poor programs of the government.
DSWD-Western Visayas has said that all households in the region will be covered by the listing. Those who were covered during the assessment will be given the chance to apply through an on-demand application.
DSWD said the rebranded Listahanan of the National Household Targeting System-for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) aims to update its database of 385,516 poor households that were identified through the 2009 assessment.
The NHTU ensures that previous mistakes like double entries and non-inclusion of names for households that do not have occupants at the time of assessment visit will be corrected.
The enumerators will issue tickets to households assessed to avoid double entries.
The enumerators were also ordered to go back to the unoccupied households three times to make sure that families are included in the enumeration. (LCP)
