THE Iloilo City Council has referred the intention of the City Government to purchase the adjoining lot owned by Ker and Co. Ltd. to the council’s committee on rules to study and recommend terms and conditions of the lot sale agreement.

The City Council will give authority to City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to sign the purchase documents of the 3,063-square meter (sq.m.) lot amounting to P35 million for a staggered payment of P11,670 per square meter.

Last February, Ker and Co. Ltd. President Virgilio Cruz and Ker’s Iloilo branch manager Roger Aguilar paid a visit to Mabilog to offer the lot for sale by lowering its initial offer from P50 million to P35 million.

The City Government has been eyeing the lot for the construction of an Executive House and a parking area for vehicles of the City Government and those transacting business in the City Hall.

After the City Council’s approval, the construction of the Executive House will start immediately.

Once construction is completed, the upper floor will serve as offices of the City Government, while the ground floor will serve as an expanded gallery of the City Government’s exhibits, relics and important documents. The rest of the lot will be developed into a parking area.
