THE City Council of Iloilo has granted the request of the Department of Health regional office for exemption on the payment of garbage and tipping fee at the city-owned dumpsite in Barangay Calajunan, Mandurriao district for a period of one year effective April 29, 2014.

City councilor Plaridel Nava, chairman of the council committee on ways and means, said the exemption will cover the payment of P2,100 tipping fee per month to the city treasurer’s office.

A maximum of 30 cubic meters of garbage per day is being collected from City Government hospitals and clinics in the city, including hospital wastes.

Nava said the exemption is solely for the DOH regional office and government hospitals and is not applicable to other hospitals and offices which must pay the tipping fee to the city government.
