Mabilog is richest official in Iloilo City

ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog is the richest elected City Government official with P63.3 million assets and P35.4 million liabilities based on his submitted Statement of Assets and Liabilities Net Worth (SALN).

Mabilog’s assets composed of cars, houses, and other real estate properties were mostly realized when he was still working in the private sector. He only joined local politics in 1994 and his wife, with a high paying job abroad, contributed much to the family assets.

Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo emerges as the richest member of the Iloilo City Council with P59.8 million worth of assets with no liabilities. He inherited from his late parents vast tracts of land in his hometown Dueñas in the province of Iloilo.

Peñaredondo is followed by incumbent Iloilo City Vice Mayor Jose Espinosa III with P21.76 million assets and P6.03 million liabilities. Espisona’s family has restaurant and resort businesses.

The SALN is a requirement submitted to the Ombudsman every year.

The other City Council members who are in the millionaires row are Councilor Nielex Tupas with P13.5 million assets and P669,383 liabilities; Jason Gonzales with P6.6 million assets and P2.7 million liabilities; Joshua Alim with P4.14 million assets and P1.5 million liabilities; RLeone Gerochi with P2.7 million assets and P100,000 liabilities; Plaridel Nava with P2.7 million assets and P1.97 million liabilities; Armand Parcon with P1.4 million assets and P250,000 liabilities; and Lyndon Acap with P1.32 million assets and P350,000 liabilities.

Considered as poor members of the City Council are ABC president Carlos Guarin with P460,000 assets and P400,000 liabilities; Rodel Fullon Agado with P443,000 assets and P415,000 liabilities; Lady Julie Grace Baronda with P310,000 assets with no liabilities; Liesel Zulueta Salazar with P182,000 assets with no liabilities; and Jay Treñas with P92,000 assets with no liabilities.
