Agrarian scholarship grads thankful to CARP-A A +A

A TOTAL of 410 children of agrarian reform farmer beneficiaries in Western Visayas have successfully graduated from their four-year college courses under a 10-year Programang Agraryo Iskolar (PAI) by producing seven Magna Cum Laude and 30 Cum Laude graduates.
DAR Asst. Reg. Dir. Gideon Umadhay Jr said the scholarship program started in 2003-2004 and ended this school year 2013-2014 as the last batch of agrarian reform scholars produced 4 Magna Cum Laudes and 15 Cum Laudes.
The graduates will serve as agents of change who will assist the government in the development and modernization of agriculture and in improving the quality of life in the rural areas.
The program encourages the grantees to take up agriculture related courses in state owned colleges and universities to be able to make positive contribution to the modernization of agriculture and in providing continuity in the pursuit of technology-laden agriculture and sustainability of the land awarded to CARP beneficiaries.
Honored during the 26th anniversary of CARP held in Iloilo City on July 30, 2014 are recent magna cum laude graduates Ed Charles John Baylon of San Rafael, Iloilo who graduated from the West Visayas State University, and Daisy Dalguntas of Hinigaran, Joan Granada of Bago, and Gerard Bello of Himamaylan, all graduates of Central Philippine State University in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental.
The cum laude graduates are Rosell Superiano of Pandan, Antique and graduate of Aklan State University, Ana Rose Noble of Bugasong, Antique and graduate of University of Antique, Darel Dapulaza of Maayon, Capiz and Niecy Casipe of Tapaz, Capiz, both graduates of Capiz State University, Sarah Mae Gallega of Buenavista, Guimaras, graduate of Guimaras State College, Coulee Cacho of Ajuy, Iloilo and Sarah Jane Ganon, both graduates of the West Visayas State University, Roselyn Hunda of Passi City and graduate of the Iloilo State College of Fisheries, and graduates of Central Philippine State University in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental namely Jyrene Marie Alipio, Jason Jungco of La Castellana, Jeanie Dimasuay of Hinigaran, Gemma Valenzuela, June Rey Manaog of Valladolid, Chrismie Ching of Hinigaran and Glennamhae Tambora of Kabankalan.
