ONLY 25 percent of the 25,000 hectares targeted for land distribution by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Western Visayas was accomplished five months before the deadline by end of December 2014.

However, DAR Reg. Dir. Alejandro Otacan said his office is determined to accomplish and finish the target distribution in the region by the end of the year as everything is ready for distribution to farmer beneficiaries.

DAR is celebrating the 26th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and the regional office has already distributed 3,763 hectares of landholding regionwide for the first semester. The biggest bulk came from the province of Negros Occidental as the agrarian reform agency continues to provide services to its beneficiaries.
