THE Iloilo City Council has approved an ordinance calling for a deed of donation by and between the City Government and the National Museum, relative to the donation of the old Jaro municipal hall for the establishment of a Regional Museum extension office in the city.

City councilor Joshua Alim said on Tuesday that the old building is presently occupied by the Jaro police, which will be transferred to a nearby building.

City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said that big plans are in store for the Jaro Plaza complex including the old building.

The National Museum and the National Historical Commission have already approved the improvement of the old building into a regional museum for Western Visayas.

Mabilog said the old Jaro building is more than 100 years old and a recognized historical heritage edifice. (Lydia C. Pendon)
