THE United Nations International Children Fund (Unicef) will distribute manuals to discourage pre-marital sex to teenagers in Yolanda-hit areas in Visayas.
The Unicef has recognized the rising cases of teenage pregnancies in the country and has selected the municipality of Sara in Iloilo; Ivisan and Capiz in Panay Island; and two other towns in Samar and Leyte.
Jonathan David Flavier, executive director of the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), said the funding assistance for developing training manuals costs $200,000, while the training services amounts to $100,000.
The FPOP is tasked to assist and guide teenage mothers with the use of training modules and other forms of services to help teenage girls cope with teen motherhood.
