Group reviews Iloilo perimeter ordinance
-A A +AThursday, February 10, 2011
MEMBERS of the Metro Iloilo Guimaras Development Council (MIGEDC) met Iloilo Governor Arthur D. Defensor Tuesday to discuss traffic problem in Iloilo City.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog admitted that the traffic problem is escalating in the city as more private vehicles and public passenger transports are plying the city roads.
The situation was aggravated by the presence of passenger jeepneys from the municipalities and other provinces.
MIGEDC said the Provincial and City Government and the Traffic and Transport Regulatory Office will conduct a group study on traffic.
The group will meet again on February 15 to discuss the terms of reference established by both local government administrators to review the perimeter boundary ordinance and the resulting traffic chokepoints and concerns on terminal facilities. (Lydia C. Pendon)
