Cuevas said the special task group was created to step up management of election-related violence following three poll-related incidents that happened recently in Iloilo.
He said the police will conduct immediate investigation on the recent incidents and will closely coordinate with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and other security forces.
On February 13, Councilor Arsenio Flaviano of Barangay Loong, Concepcion, Iloilo was killed. Five days later, former mayor Luis Mondia Jr. of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental was shot dead on February 17 in front of Jaro Cathedral.
A tractor owned by mayoralty bet in Lemery, Iloilo was also burned for failing to pay permit to campaign fees to the communist-terrorists.
Cuevas said that other election-related incidents in the city will also be acted upon to assure the public that the Philippine National Police is capable of making the May 10 elections peaceful and orderly.
