ILOILO City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog declared the Treñas Boulevard not open to vehicles, saying it is solely an area for pedestrians and people who exercise there everyday.
Mabilog said the people of Iloilo City have found the place suitable for morning exercise and leisure walk.

The riverside street was built two years ago as a component of the river development program of a multi-million peso Iloilo flood control project. The City Council approved last year the street as the Efrain Treñas Boulevard in honor of the late Constitutional Convention delegate, Dean Efrain Treñas, father of Congressman Jerry Treñas.
Since then, morning joggers have been using the area as a venue for physical fitness exercises while other residents found it appropriate for walking exercises.
Mabilog said his priority is to give the street to city residents and people who exercise. Vehicles, he added, can use the nearby Pison Street in going to Tabucan in Mandurriao and vice versa. (LCP)
