A look at Thailand's countryside (Part 2)

Wednesday, August 31, 2011 - 11:07 p.m.

Farm Chokchai

I HAVE never equated Thailand with farms (although I know that fruit orchards abound), much less with a model of a farm. It had always been temples, shopping, beaches, food, even elephants, and all else that spells exotic! What a pleasant change it was then, when the itinerary for our media group invited by Cebu Pacific Air to Bangkok, included a foray into Farm Chokchai, about two hours away from the city. Our schedule was prepared by Dave de Jesus, the marketing rep of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in the Philippines, who knows Thailand like the back of his hand.

Last week was a week of partying with close friends. Turning 75 after my hospital stint is a boon from heaven. Being basically independent, I insisted on not being a burden to any one except of course to my caregiver.
