The assessment was conducted during a recent visit to the region by the committee, headed Southern Leyte Representative Roger Mercado.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon Soliman, in a recent press briefing in Tacloban City, said that the convergence will cover 47 poor provinces in the country by mid-2011 to benefit at least 2.3 million poor families by the end of next year.

Labor department suspends standards inspections
