IT’S still a no-way for homosexuals to get married and be tolerated by the church in their homosexual acts, said the director for Social Communications office of the Archdiocese of Palo in reaction to today’s most-talked-about gay-themed GMA drama “My Husband’s Lover.”

“We respect the homosexuals, but the homosexual act is already a different story. A homosexual act is considered as a sin,” said Fr. Amadeo Alvero.

Peace adviser: No negotiations with MNLF

PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Deles on Monday clarified that there is no negotiation between the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and the Aquino government.

"No negotiations with MNLF. What we have with MNLF is the tripartite implementation review of the 1996 GPH-MNLF Final Peace Agreement being facilitated by Indonesia as the chair of the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) peace committee in Southern Philippines," she said in a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

LOSING senatorial candidate Juan Ponce "Jack" Enrile, Jr. was the May 2013 elections' biggest spender, based on his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) filed with the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Enrile received P150.7 million in campaign contributions and spent P150.4 million for his unsuccessful Senate bid.

Increased domestic sugar consumption seen

SUGAR production in the country increased to 2.448 million metric tons (mt) as of June 2, 2013, said Sugar Regulatory Administrator (SRA) Gina Martin.

“The figure is 0.6 percent higher than SRA’s second production estimate of 2.434 million mt for crop year 2012-2013 and this will further increase as three mills are still grinding while some mills that earlier stopped milling are set to restart by early August," said Martin in an emailed statement to Sun.Star Bacolod.
