AS GOVERNMENT and local assemblers work together in boosting the growth and competitiveness of the country's motorcycle industry, a leading multi-brand distributor of motorcycles and motorcycle spare parts takes the lead in the motorcycle retail market by offering an additional one-year and additional 10,000 kilometers warranty on top of the original manufacturer's one-year/10,000 kilometers guarantee.

Guanzon Group launched on July 30 its Guanzon 2-Year Extended Warranty, which means "worry-free repairs" for a period of two years/20,000 kilometers, whichever comes first, for its customers of Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha motorcycles in 70 dealerships across North and Central Luzon and in Metro Manila.

The original manufacturer's warranty is good for one year or 10,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.

Guanzon Group offers additional one-year warranty and additional 10,000 kilometers after the original manufacturer's warranty expires.

"Recognizing the need of our customers for value-added service and extending our gratitude for their patronage for over 50 years now, Guanzon Group offers this longer warranty period for the motorcycles we sell," said Guanson Y. Lo, vice president and general manager of Guanzon Group.

The extended warranty allows Guanzon's motorcycle customers to enjoy their purchase without worrying about expensive repair costs for two years instead of one. They will continue to enjoy an unlimited access to repair claims brought by sudden mechanical or electrical breakdown in their motorcycle units.

The extended warranty will be available in all of Guanzon's 70 dealerships nationwide.

Early this year, Board of Investments (BOI) managing head Cristino Panlilio said domestic motorcycle sales average 800,000 units a year with a sales ratio of eighty to one (80 people for every motorcycle unit sold), which is much lower compared to Vietnam's five to one.

BOI is optimistic that sales of as much as one million units a year is feasible as more people primarily look for cheaper modes of transportation due to high fuel cost. Motorcycle sales can reach up to 1.2 million units in 2012 from only 549,000 in 2007, said the BOI.

The Guanzon 2-Year Extended Warranty offer comes from the heels of the 65th anniversary celebration of Guanzon Group, which successfully concluded its four-leg Guanzon Festival series in Dagupan City in January this year.

"From a hardware store in 1945, diversifying later into marketing and financing motorcycles, mobile phones and gadgets and cars and with close to a thousand employees today in more than 80 locations, we plan to expand further by developing new concepts and seizing business opportunities," said Lo.
