Sun.Star, other companies join OFW expo

MANILA -- More than a hundred companies from different areas in the country participated in the 8th Mega Balikbayan OFW Expo, which opened Friday at Megatrade Halls 2 and 3 in SM Megamall, Pasig City.
The expo, organized by Ex-Link Events, aims to encourage overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to become entrepreneurs and self-sustaining.

“We believe that this is the best way to make the improved quality of life they have. It will help our economy big time if we can produce a large number of entrepreneurs,” said Mitch Ballesteros, chief executive officer of Ex-Link Events.
Ballesteros, together with Governor LRay Villafuerte of Camarines Sur and Commission for Filipino Overseas Undersecretary Grace Tirona, welcomed Friday the expositors and visitors to the event.
The expo boasts more or less 150 exhibitors covering health and wellness, food franchising, travel and lifestyle, real estate, technology franchising, bank and investments, and cars, among others.
Included in the list are Camella Homes, West Wing Tropics, Moldex Realty Inc., Dulalia Homes, First Homes Makati, Megaword Corp., Sorrel Residences, Eastwood Residences, Capitol Plaza Site Development plan, Air Philippines, CamSur, Department of Tourism-Cagayan Valley, Miriam College, Finds Convenience Store, Mr. Liempo, Center for Pop Music, SunPower, and BPI, among others.
Sun.Star website, which offers services for OFWs, also joined the expo.
The event is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting Friday, December 9, until Sunday, December 11.
Other features of the event are the OFW Business Summit, Pamaskong Handog sa OFWs: Pinoy Family Fun Days, National Franchise and Business Opportunity Fair, Christmas Festival, Kababayan Fair, Maligayang Pasko OFW Celebration, Christmas Car-all Show, and Obra or the Outstanding OFW and Balikbayan Reputation Award.
