CITI Philippines is the Best Consumer Internet Bank and the Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank in the country, as adjudged by New-York based media company Global Finance.
This is the 7th win for Citi in the consumer category while it has cornered the corporate category for six consecutive years.
The World's Best Internet Bank Award is now on its 13th year. Global Finance works with a panel of judges at Infosys to evaluate entries and select the winners.
"Citi's 200-year legacy is marked by innovations that helped shape the world and connect people across markets. In the Philippines, we have introduced technological advancements opening customers to global banking solutions and changing the landscape to be at par with global standards," said Citi Country Officer for the Philippines Sanjiv Vohra.
"We are truly proud of this achievement as we continue to provide the best online services to our clients, since the time we first introduced the convenience of electronic banking in 1983," added Vohra.
Citi in Asia Pacific also bagged the Best Information Security Initiatives for the consumer category. In the corporate/institutional category, Citi was also named Best Trade Finance Services, Best Web Site Design and Best in Mobile Banking in Asia.
"The Internet has transformed the way many consumers and most businesses bank," said Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher of Global Finance. "The continuing improvements in Internet offerings represented by this year's entries show that more significant Internet banking developments are still ahead of us."
According to Global Finance, the banks were judged based on strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives, and web site design and functionality.
