EMERSON Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, has launched “Data Center 2025,” a global industry-wide survey designed to further understand the significance of data centers and explore its potential in the future.

Already, data centers are more or less replacing traditional central offices, and the edge of the network is next. By 2025, it's not unreasonable to think telecommunications networks may be comprised of loosely connected data center and IT facilities, with traditional outside plant sites a thing of the past.

The survey initiative -- open now until February 23 -- will cover data center providers, OEMS, industry analysts, media, and others from the data center and IT communities. The study will also include interviews, social media engagement and reviews of existing forecasts.

The complete results will be made available at www.EmersonNetworkPower.com/DataCenter2025 and through Emerson Network Power Asia’s Twitter account – www.twitter.com/EmrsnNP_AP.

“The Philippines is a continuously-growing technology market in Asia and its economy has benefitted well in adapting swiftly to IT innovations,” said Hans Bayaborda, country manager for Emerson Network Power in the Philippines. “However, there is still a largely unexplored frontier and a vast potential to mine and grow this industry, allowing it to push the nation’s economic development further. In the age of globalization, the power of this information -- derived from the report -- is too significant to ignore.”

“The world is moving towards a more digital future,” Bayaborda added. “Understanding the data center industry and anticipating its trajectory is certainly key to allow the Philippines to progress alongside the rest of its neighboring economies.”

To guide the conversation and provide a starting point for input, Emerson established potential scenarios for the future of computing. They reflect potential directions the industry could go based on evolution of existing technologies and emergence of disruptive technologies.

From now until February 23rd, Emerson will ask the industry to predict how those scenarios might impact various aspects of the data center – and how, in turn, the data center might evolve to support those models.

IT professionals and those working directly or indirectly with data centers can learn more about the potential 2025 scenarios, comment, and complete the survey at www.EmersonNetworkPower.com/DataCenter2025, or email thoughts or questions to DataCenter2025@Emerson.com. The survey is available in multiple languages.
