TO FURTHER improve local operations and continue its commitment to manufacture quality automobiles, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has invested around P360M on additional land and constructed its own container yard and material handling operations (MHO) warehouse, increasing the total land area of its Santa Rosa plant from 21 hectares to around 23 hectares and building area from 83,000 sq.m to 120,500 sq.m.
For the past years, MMPC has been leasing three storage facilities outside of its plant for the stockpile of completely knocked down (CKD) units and locally developed parts.
The construction of these facilities will mean that MMPC can now house these items within its vicinity.
According to MMPC First Vice President for Manufacturing Division, Mr. Arnaldo T. Janolo, “the reduction in storage, transportation, and MHO cost will further improve the operational efficiency and quality of our products.”
These investments shows MMPC’s effort to promote the automotive industry in the country.
MMPC have invested P4.3B for the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy or CARS program of the Philippine government to produce Mirage models. The container yard and material handling warehouse facilities have started their operations last October. (PR)
