THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) will downsize the clustered precincts for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in October.
From five precincts per cluster in the May 10 polls, Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said they will reduce it to two.

"Magka-clustering pa rin tayo but it will be much smaller. Kung dati 1,000 voters per clustered precincts, ngayon 400 na lang maximum natin," he noted.
He said clustering more precincts would be impractical since voters would need more time to cast their votes.
With the manual system, votes would also be manually counted by the Board of Election Tellers (BETs).
The commission en banc decided to go back to the old system, citing there is no need to transmit the votes in the national level. (MSN/Sunnex)
