NEWBIE Daniel Padilla is ready to take on the limelight through the upcoming show of the Kapamilya Network entitled "Growing Up".

Daniel is the third-generation Padilla who will try his luck in showbiz. He is the son of Rommel Padilla, brother of Robin, and then-actress Karla Estrada.

The aspiring actor said he is really excited to finally be part of the industry he longs for.

"Bata pa lang ako gusto ko na talagang mag-showbiz. Gusto kong i-try yung ginagawa ni Mama and Papa," Daniel said to Sun.Star and other entertainment reporters.

Now that he's part of one of the most promising coming-of-age series on television, the young boy said his parents are very supportive of his decision.

"Sabi ni mama sa akin eh wag sasayangin yung opportunity kasi ang daming tao ang gustong mag-artista. Ang daming pumipila para makapasok, ako go see go-see lang," he said.

His father, on the other hand, told him to always focus on his work and be respectful of the people whom he will work with on and off screen.

When asked about his Tito Robin and cousins Queenie and Kylie Padilla, Daniel said the former always reminds him to be a gentleman, while Queenie and Kylie are both very happy for him.

Daniel replaces actor Albie Casino in this series. He said they are still good friends and the latter is supportive of him.

The newbie knows that this opportunity will make or break his career in showbiz.

When asked how did he prepare for the role, Daniel said he internalize in front of the mirror.

"Ang ginawa ko talaga eh kinuha ko yung script, humarap ako sa salamin at todo arte ako," he said.

"Growing Up" director Lino Cayetano also took some time to teach Daniel on what nuances and kind of acting are expected of him.

The newcomer is hopeful that the audience will like him. He is also hoping that he can stay in the industry for a long time.

Catch Daniel with Kathryn Bernardo, Julia Montes and Diego Loyzaga in "Growing Up" starting September 4 on ABS-CBN. (Sunnex)
