TELEVISION host Pia Guanio finally broke her silence on reports of her intimate wedding with non-showbiz businessman boyfriend Steve Mago.

In her talkshow "Showbiz Central", Pia confirmed the news when interviewed by her co-hosts Jennylyn Mercado, John Lapus, Ruffa Mae Quinto and Raymond Gutierrez through phone.

The Christian wedding took place last October 1 in the garden of Steve's parents in Ayala Alabang.

According to Pia, not more than 50 people attended the wedding.

"I will categorically answer that, and the answer is yes. We just really wanted it private. And we wanted just a few people because we really wanted to concentrate on the ceremony, on the blessing, and the message from our pastor."

"Ayaw talaga namin ng any kind of unnecessary distractions which are a big wedding entails. Minabuti na lang namin to just have our families present because, honestly, sila lang naman talaga yung pinakaimportante."

Pia added that only their families were present during the event.

She said they made time to prepare spiritually and emotionally for the marriage they will share together.

"I mean, so many people think that a wedding is one day, but it's not. It's a long period of preparations. And I don't mean flowers, I don't mean themes, I don't mean motifs, I don't mean ten-gazillion guests.

"We are missing the forest for the trees. Parang with all the preparations, sometimes nami-miss mo yung mensahe talaga, yung kahalagahan nung okasyon. And this is what I love about what happened because it was very solemn, it was very meaningful, and it was very heartfelt."

Her husband and his family prepared for days for the wedding and Pia revealed that most of her showbiz friends did not know of the event.

Pia further shared that even designer Jerome Salaya, who created her wedding gown, was not informed that he's making her the dress for the said occasion.

"I'm probably like the most cooperative bride in the world. You will not see me (as a) bridezilla."

The couple is planning to have their honeymoon next year as the television host is still busy for her commitments to GMA right now.

Pia added that a second wedding will surely be on their top list for next year to celebrate the occasion with more of their close friends in and out of showbizness. (Sunnex)
