Piolo: No on-screen rivalry with Jericho

KAPAMILYA Ultimate Leading Man Piolo Pascual clarified there's no competition between him and "Dahil sa Pag-ibig" co-actor Jericho Rosales.

On Sunday evening, the first five episodes of the newest primetime series were shown to selected guests and celebrities at Cinema 7 in Trinoma Mall, Quezon City.

The event was attended by the entire cast of the show and other Star Magic artists.

In an interview with Piolo after the said Celebrity Screening, the actor reiterated that even though their characters – his (Alfred) and Jericho's (Oliver) -- will fall for one woman, played by Cristine Reyes, there's no rivalry between them on-screen.

"We used that to our advantage. Never kaming nagpaligsahan or compete sa anong bagay. Bilang magkapatid eh ang panget naman na ngayon pa kami magiging magka-kompitensiya sa industriya."

He added that after 10 years of being friends, it's an overwhelming feeling for him to work again with Jericho.

"Sobra akong namamangha, na-overwhelm. I never thought na working with Echo would be a reality. We've always wanted to work with each other, so bilang kapatid, kami yung magkasama sa napakalaking proyektong ito."

Piolo and Echo were part of then-all male singing group "The Hunks". They were joined by Carlos Agassi, Diether Ocampo and Bernard Palanca.

Aside from working with Echo, Piolo is also happy to be back in primetime block after his successful soap "Noah" in February of last year.

He said this project is really special to him because he will share the small screen with the biggest names in local showbiz today.

Piolo added that his recent visit in Rome helped him to motivate and deliver what is expected from his character.

"We've got to talk to a lot of Filipino priests, and observe. Ako din naman kasi lumaki sa isang Kristiyanong pamumuhay eh."

"(The series) is a collective effort. You can see everybody working hand in hand from Tito Boyet, down to all the support. It’s exciting to be part of a project such as this. I'm a fan."

"Dahil sa Pag-ibig" will be shown daily on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida starting March 12. (Sunnex)
