Sharon Cuneta slams haters on Twitter

MEGASTAR Sharon Cuneta is the latest television personality to receive hurtful slurs on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Since she joined the online craze early this year, the seasoned actress is one of the few stars who actually connected to her fans and made time to reply to her followers.

Cuneta would share her deepest thoughts, current reads, must-see movies, photos of her children and sometimes her frustrations.

The megastar let her fans, and those lurking around, see a new side of her, someone who seem accessible to the public and just one tweet away.

But after a few weeks, the TV5 star received below-the-belt remarks from her critics.

The megastar said that her close friend Judy Ann Santos made the right choice not to open her own Twitter account.

"Judai, my sister, I think you are right not to join Twitter," she said.

Bashers started tweeting negative stuff on Cuneta about her and daughter KC Concepcion, which offended the megastar.

"Life is surrounded by people who judge us day in and day out. They will talk about us when we succeed and laugh at us when we fail. They can make or break us, but the secret is to live a humble life that pleases God, not people. For He will exalt you in His perfect time (sic)," read one of Cuneta's response to the negative tweets.

"Since you won't stop bashing me and my daughter and it's all the same to you -- maybe, it's time I talk and tell the whole real story," Cuneta said in another post.

Personal attacks on the actress further pushed her to fight back and be heard.

"Hindi ako plastic. Pag masaya ako, masaya ako. Pag sinabi kong mahal ko, mahal ko. Pag ayaw ko, ayaw ko. At pag galit ako, galit ako," she said.

The megastar said that "haters have always been, and always will be" a insignificant part of her life. And that through her years in the industry, they've always been there trying to put her down.

Her last tweet on Wednesday night was dedicated to her bitter rivals: "Remember, haters never win."

Judy Ann Santos, meanwhile, rushed to the megastar's defense on her latest issue with her Twitter followers.

In one interview, Santos said that Cuneta's reaction to the nasty tweets was normal for a mom who is concerned about her daughter.

She said it is not fair to attack the actress and her daughter because these haters do not know KC and Sharon on a personal level.

She added that these comments could be traced back to KC's critics and her controversial break-up with "Dahil sa Pag-ibig" lead actor Piolo Pascual.

Santos said that Piolo and KC made a decision and everyone should respect it. They are trying to move on and continue with their respective showbiz careers, she added.

The onscreen tandem of Pascual and Santos is being considered as one of the most successful in the local showbiz industry. (Sunnex)
