Jessy Mendiola, Matteo Guidicelli star in 'Isla'

ABS-CBN actress Jessy Mendiola and Cebuano actor Matteo Guidicelli will grace the afternoon block in their upcoming Precious Hearts Romances (PHR) series "Isla."

The project is about two people stranded in an island and ended up falling in love with each other.

Jessy and Matteo will pair up for the first time in a television project. This is also the first PHR series of Matteo since joining show business.

According to Jessy, this is her most mature role, to date.

"I feel anxious about this. I hope they get to accept this," she said in Filipino.

For Matteo, he never expected to do a PHR series and was very happy when it was given to him.

"Never ko talagang inexpect na gagawa ako ng isang PHR series. Nung sinabi nila na 'Matteo gagawa ka and lead role ka,' very surreal ‘yung feeling (I never expected to do a PHR series. When they told me that I have to do it and will play a lead role, the feeling was very surreal)," he said.

The actor lost 10 pounds for the project. He said his darker skin tone is all for "Isla."

Joining the two in the series are Pinoy Big Brother ex-housemate Matte Evans and Jewel Mische. (Sunnex)
