ABS-CBN stars rule Yahoo! OMG Awards

ABS-CBN stars dominated the winners list of the recently concluded Yahoo! OMG Awards.

Held at the Mall of Asia Arena Friday evening, the star-studded event received more than 4 million votes in 26 different categories during the four-week voting period.

Television host Vice Ganda was hailed as "Comedian of the Year" after he received more than 62,000 votes.

According to the "It's Showtime" main man, the Yahoo! trophy goes to all his supporters for their undying love and support.

"Happy ako. Natutuwa ako sa ganitong mga awards kasi ang bumu-boto ay mga tao. Ito buong Pilipinas talaga and pati yung nasa ibang mga bansa."

"Ito ay para sa mga suporters ko kasi sila talaga yung masigasig na bumoto. Ako eh nagpatawa lang ako sa tv, sa pelikula. Pero yung effort na makuha ko yung award na ito eh dahil sa fans

The "Comedienne of the Year" award was then given to "Kimi Dora" star Eugene Domingo. She garnered more than 55,000 votes.

Vice's co-host and actress Anne Curtis was named the "Celebrity of the Year." Anne got at least 86,000 nods from the voting public for her success in the field of acting, hosting and even singing.

"Walang Hanggan" lead actor Coco Martin also attended the event and personally received his "Actor of the Year Award." His counterpart is Angel Locsin as "Actress of the Year."

Angel and boyfriend Phil Younghusband were also named the "It Couple" while her movie "Unofficially Yours" was Yahoo's "Movie of the Year."

Kim Chiu and Xian Lim received the "Love Team of the Year" and "Breakthrough actress and actor" trophies. Their legion of fans "KimXi" was then named the "Fan Club" of the competition.

Other big winners during the awards night are Enrique Gil and Kathryn Bernardo for "Most Promising Actor and Actress," Daniel Padilla and Solenn Heusaff for "Best Male and Female Newcomers," and Xyriel Manabat for "Child Star of the Year" award.

Pop Princess Sarah Geronimo and balladeer Christian Bautista were named "Female and Male Singer," respectively.

Pinoy Big Brother's Bianca Gonzalez and Luis Manzano as "Best Female and Male TV hosts," Parokya ni Edgar as the "Band of the Year," Papa Jack as "Male Radio DJ," Nicole Hyala as "Female Radio DJ," "The Morning Rush as the "Best Radio Show," and WLS FM 97.1 got the "Best FM Radio Station" trophy.

Star for All Season Vilma Santos-Recto is the recipient of the "Best Impact" award.

Meanwhile, Yahoo! awarded Comedy King Dolphy a plague of recognition for all his contributions to the entertainment industry.

Hosted by Raymond Gutierrez, Solenn Heusaff and Isabelle Daza, the second Yahoo! OMG Awards was filled with dance, fashion and music extravaganza.

Among those who performed during the night were DJ Mars Miranda, Urbandub, Gloc 9, Julie Anne San Jose, Sam Concepcion and father-son duo Gabriel and Gary Valenciano. (Sunnex)
