Nikki not afraid of typecasting

NIKKI Gil is flattered to be named as the next Cherie Gil by her co-stars in ABS-CBN's "Mundo Man ay Magunaw."
"Kung maabot ko lang yung kalahati ng nagawa niya eh masaya na ako. Ang dami kong effort and energy na in-invest sa proyektong ito. Kaya masaya ako na nakita nilang lahat yun (If only I could reach half of what Cherie Gil has done, I would be happy. I invested a lot of effort and energy in this project. I'm happy that my co-actors see them)," she said.
Seasoned actors Eula Valdez and Sylvia Sanchez said that among the present generation of actors, Nikki is the only one who can portray a convincing antagonist who is beautiful, classy but can be very arrogant and deceiving.
The show's original writer, Salvador Royales, said Nikki is a revelation in the drama series.
For someone who admittedly took acting before as work more than her passion, Nikki said she's happy that some noticed her efforts to deliver and better herself in the business.
"But I enjoy doing it now. I enjoy doing it with the people I love working with," she added.
Nikki revealed that when she accepted the offer to play the role of Jennifer La Peña in the series, she studied the character, she did research and watched lots of films that will somehow resonate the acting needed by her directors.
She said she's also not afraid to be typecast in kotrabida roles.
"I read books. I have a lot of acting books. I watched a lot of movies. I'm the kind of person na if you want to succeed, study it. Study the trade."
She said she's also thankful to both Eula and Sylvia for teaching her the do's and don'ts in their line of work. Nikki said she wouldn't be able to enjoy acting if it weren't for the two seasoned stars.
"Para akong nag-aral sa best university in terms of acting dahil sa mga natutunan ko sa kanila," she said. (Sunnex)
