'TV Patrol' anniversary special set Sunday

TV PATROL'S Silver Anniversary Special will be shown this Sunday on ABS-CBN channel.

Last July 27, the men and women of "TV Patrol" took some timeout from their reporting jobs to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the popular news program.

Noli de Castro serenaded the crowd while seasoned broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez sung the Filipino classic "Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok ko."

Anchor Pinky Webb, Gretchen Fullido, Phoemela Baranda, Ginger Conejero and Marie Lozano also worked the stage and danced the salsa.

Comic duets of Tony Velasquez and Kitkat, Marc Logan and Cacai Bautista, Doris Bigornia and Leo Martinez were applauded for their performances while Henry Omaga-Diaz was noticeably nervous in his song number with comedienne Ethel Booba.

The celebration also honored the pioneers and past newscasters of "TV Patrol" such as the late Angelo Castro Jr., Rolly V. Cruz, Frankie Evangelista and Ernie Baron whose awards were received by their respective families.

Kapamilya stars who grace the event are Dulce, Vina Morales, Basil Valdez, Bituin Escalante, Jed Madela, Gloc-9, Freddie Aguilar and the Watawat band, Pepe Smith, Angeline Quinto and Erik Santos.

The event was hosted by De Castro, Sanchez and Ted Failon.
