Sam denies 'vote buying' rumors

GMA artist Sam Pinto said she did not buy votes to retain her title as FHM's sexiest woman of the year.
She won the title this year after receiving the most number of text votes from supporters of the popular men's magazine.
Her win sparked rumors that she bought text votes to hold on to the title that she also won last year. Sam said she heard about the rumors but denied that she did anything to secure the top spot.
"I'm very honored to hold the title again. It's actually crazy because I was not expecting it this year," she said in an interview with Sun.Star during the Kapuso Night in Legazpi City over the weekend.
"I didn't use my own money. My fans suggested why don't we give out prizes to those who voted for you. I agreed because for me it's like a thank you gift. These came from the sponsors. People misinterpreted that I was spending money, that I was voting for myself," she added.
She admitted that her mother is affected by the rumors.
"Umabot na talaga na yung mom ko na ang nare-react. My mom is usually very chill. As long as she knows the truth, hindi talaga siya makikialam. But with that particular issue, she was telling 'bakit ganito?" she said.
Despite the sexy title, the actress said she wanted to stay single as she "doesn’t feel like dating now."
"Almost everywhere I go, random people approach me, when I buy stuff (lumalapit sila), they say pick-up lines. Nakakatuwa naman," she said.
"Yung isa sa the best na narinig ko was 'may dala ka bang payong? bakit? kasi umuulan ng kagandahan eh," she added.
Sam will be part of the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry topbilled by Senator Bong Revilla, Vic Sotto and Judy Ann Santos. (Sunnex)
