EUGENE Domingo said she doesn't rest on her laurels when it comes to her acting career, but instead she keeps learning and reinvents herself.

In a recent interview, she said she doesn't get too comfortable with her roles and she always has the drive and thirst to deliver her best performance.

Eugene will star in the newest musical film "I Do Bidoo Bidoo: Heto nAPO Sila" with Zsa Zsa Padilla, Ogie Alcasid and Gary Valenciano.

"Hindi ako nakakampante. Alam kong trabaho ito. Nagsimula talaga ako sa commitment. Nabigyan ka na ng chance, hindi ito laging nangyayari, hindi ko na ito pababayaan," she said.

"Hindi porke't ang galing mo na sa ibang pelikula, akala mo kaya mo nang gawin lahat. Ang lesson ko dito ay huwag na huwag kang magiging kampante, lahat ng papel ay pinagtatrabahuan," she added.

Eugene's box-office dominance was certified by the "Kimi Dora" movies, her films with Ai-Ai delas Alas and the Cinemalaya entry "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank."

The comedian said that when she was tapped to be part of "I Do Bidoo Bidoo," she immediately bought two CDs of the APO Hiking Society and got herself some voice trainings.

"Alam kong kailangan kong mag-aral. Alam kong kailangan kong ayusin ang disiplina ko. Hindi pwedeng 'tama na yun, okay na yun'. So dalawa ang teacher ko sa voice. Nagtanggal din ako ng bisyo," she said.

Aside from this movie, Eugene is also doing "Bona" with Edgar Allan Guzman.

She said it takes some extra effort to do a movie and a theater production simultaneously.

"Mahirap pero kailangan ng focus. I'm just so blessed na maayos ang aking calendar. Nabibigyan ko ng atensyon yung mga gusto kong gawin," she said.

When asked why her projects shows more skin (the movie will feature a bed scene with Ogie and she will have intimate sequences with Edgar in Bona), the comedian said it's also a big question mark on her side.

"Hindi ako nababahala, ako'y takang-taka. Ano bang klaseng pangitain ito? Siguro dahil safe ako at walang kamali-malisya. Duty lang talaga, tawag ng sining," she said.

Directed by Chris Martinez, "I Do Bidoo Bidoo" opens August 29 in theaters nationwide. (Sunnex)
