Cesar Montano: No plans to run in 2013 polls
-A A +AThursday, September 6, 2012
ACTOR Cesar Montano said he has no plans of running for any elective position in the 2013 midterm elections, after two failed attempts in the 2007 and 2010 polls.
In an interview with reporters during the press launch of his upcoming movie "Biktima," Cesar confirmed that several groups have been inviting him to run but he decided to put on hold his political plans due to his various showbiz commitments.
"To be quite honest wala talaga akong balak na tumakbo [I have no plans to run for public office in the 2013 polls]," he said.
He added that he wanted to do movies, for now, and attend to his political ambitions later. "I'm not closing doors," he said.
The actor said that when it comes to politics, his entire family should agree on one final decision.
Cesar said that one must have a calling for public service before joining politics and should render pure hard work to be able to deliver what is expected of him by the people.
Also, the actor denied that he will be Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim's running-mate when the latter faces off with the tandem of former President Joseph Estrada and Vice Mayor Isko Moreno in 2013.
Cesar considers running with Lim an honour but stressed that his numerous movie assignments might not permit him to join in the political race. Cesar is doing a biopic of the feisty Manila mayor.
Cesar ran for Senator in 2007 under the then administration's Team Unity while in 2010 he ran for governor in his home province of Bohol. He failed to achieve victory in both elections. (Sunnex)
