A TRIBUTE concert for the late Comedy King Dolphy, who died last July due to multiple organ failure, is set for Wednesday (September 19) at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Dubbed as "Dolphy Alay Tawa: A Musical Tribute to the King of Comedy," the event will celebrate the life and contributions of the comedian to the local showbiz industry.
Eric Quizon, Dolphy's son, said the tribute concert was formalized during his father's wake and all three big television networks agreed to support the cause.
Local showbiz personalities are taking part in the concert, which also include the late comedian's life partner, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and sons.
Also set to perform onstage are Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Ai Ai delas Alas, Toni Gonzaga and Judy Ann Santos.
Other stars joining the celebration are Shaina Magdayao, Angeline Quinto, Luis Manzano, John Prats, Iya Villania, Smokey Manalota, Jhong Hilario, Melai Cantiveros, and Neil Coleta.
Proceeds of the concert will go to the Eyebank Foundation Philippines, Hope in a Bottle, Philippine Red Cross, and Dolphy Aid Para sa Pinoy Foundation. (Sunnex)
