MERCEDES Cabral shared some of her experiences while doing the film "Thy Womb" (Sinapupunan) with Superstar Nora Aunor and their recent visit to Venice, Italy for the 69th Venice International Film Festival.

The two actresses worked together in Brillante Mendoza's critically acclaimed film, which was recently invited for competition in the annual film festival. Mercedes attended the event with Aunor, Mendoza and actress Lovi Poe.

Mercedes said the movie was well-received by the audience and critics in Italy. No one had left the room while the movie was being shown, she added.

"Yung audience dun napaka-blunt. Pag ayaw nila ng pelikula ay mag walk out sila. Natuwa ako kasi end credits na, di pa nagalisan ang mga tao. Inantay nilang lumiwanag at saka nila kami pinalakpakan for five minutes," she said.

Mercedes said the Superstar also received praises from moviegoers in Italy for her effective portrayal of her role.

"Si Nora, kung paano niya na portray ang character niya, sobrang effective. Mabigat ang storya at di rin sila makapaniwala na ganun ang culture ng mga badjao," she said.

The film was shot in Tawi-Tawi where Nora's character Shaleha resides and works as a Badjao midwife.

Mercedes said she enjoyed working with the seasoned actress because she is down to earth and very professional.

"Tao siya na nagtatrabaho, not star." She said. "Shooting namin sa Tawi tawi, sa Sitangkay Island. Yung bahay namin sa stilts. Walang toilet, tubig namin ay rain water. Tulugan namin six or seven kami in a room."

"One time, lilipat na kami ng location ako nageempake pa. Nagmemeryenda na lahat sabi sa akin ni Ms nora, 'Anak kumain muna tayo.' Sabi ko 'tatapusin ko lang po ito.' Nagulat ako, kumatok sa kwarto, may dalang bowl of noodles talaga," she said.

If given a chance, Mercedes said she will want to work again with the Superstar.

Mercedes is now part of the new afternoon series on GMA-7 entitled "Magdalena". She will also be doing "Aberya" under the direction of Christian Linaban. (Sunnex)
